| WOW. it has been far too long since i have looked at, thought about, read, vented (the list goes on) with this xanga. it was a very good friend of mine for many years and i guess i should continue with writing in it. its always good to blog your thoughts and such for the day...or just how your day went in general.
i guess to begin: i got deathly ill this weekend. i had a light weight sore throat on friday and i practiced on it and coughed a bit.
friday night happened.
Saturday morning i woke up with body aches and such...and an even worse sore throat. I had some ibuprofen and went to practice to prepare ourselves for slugfest the following day.
after practice, i went with eline and tracy to eat at betty's burger (delicious btw) and then we went to go check out some cleats....which i dont really need new ones....but i wanted to see any way but luckily and didnt see any that i liked or any that fit me so i just bought a headband to wear during practice and games. except i didnt really buy it cause the guy forgot to ring it up so i just took it haha. oops.
got home. tracy needed to go to costco to buy all the necessities (which i mean food which all ruggers need during game time. or we become ravenous and very scary) for slugfest.
got home. at this point my body aches were TERRIBLE. i felt like crying! so i took more ibuprofen. the girls decided to carve pumpkins and watch some scary movies. i pumpkin carved for probably the first time in my life and fiona made fun of me for that and said i was a deprived child. and then i got scared watching some weird ghost movie so i went to bed.
SUNDAY.
sunday is not a rugby day. but in this case, it was. wow. 3 games. when i woke up, i was not about to play. i felt like death. i had the worst body/muscle/joint aches i have ever experienced. i popped in 2 tylenol extra strength pills, dayquil pills, drank an emergen-C, and made some korean ginseng tea and squirted in a GRIP of honey and i was on my merry way to play some rugby.
on the field i was huffing and puffing. there are no other scrum halves on our team to take my place if i get hurt or tired or whatever.
but during the second game, chief put in tracy as a scrum half for the second half...and then she got hurt so i went in again. third game: im about to die now. but i play my last half.....i can barely yell out things...i can barely move.
chief kindly let me out and i proceeded to put on a sweater, take some more ibuprofen and then i passed out for a very long time.
then i got home slept.
monday and tuesday were hell. i felt worse and then some of my housemates thought i had swine flu. i got fiona sick. i partially got guinness sick. yiiiikes.
I had a paper due on wednesday and a midterm too. i could not do either over the weekend because i felt like death. i emailed the professor about the midterm...and i got it pushed back to next week. YAHOO! but my paper is a piece of shit.
aaaand the health center told me that i have bronchitis. excellent.

| A good friend of mine said that one morning and the whole room
pretty much busted up laughing. Oh, Audrey.
its been a good 3 months and then some since i've written anything
on xanga. its pretty crazy that it has been so long! I guess winter
quarter was quite the crazy one for me. I pretty much messed up
on my priorities and made terrible use of my time and such and such.
but i feel like winter quarter and this quarter have definitely helped me
understand just a little bit more about myself.
Plus, my grades have been terrible. i hate to say it, but i am on academic
probation right now. whoa. haha. im trying to do really good this quarter
to make up for my terrible terrible grades, and i know i can do it. on that
subject, i should be studying for my midterm tomorrow but i just really
need to clear my mind and i feel like this will give me some clarity.
half of me wants to say that im broken. the other half wants to say that
everything is okay and theres nothing wrong with me. I feel like i have
two views in life. but right now, im siding with my college mind. my open
mind. i've seen a lot of things, done a lot of things, and thought a lot more
than those two combined. im honestly so confused right now and i dont know
what to do. i cant believe that i've done some of the things that i have done.
its weird cause everyones like "dude, its college. you do what you do. you
experiment." yeah..well i must be some kind of scientist cause i have done
a lot of experimenting...haha.
i love this school so much though. and the people that im with. i love everyone
on the rugby team. they have quickly become such close and good friends of mine
and i cant imagine life with out them. its amazing because rugby is something
that i actually want to work on...to become better. i was never like that with
basketball. its weird.
im afraid of going home for the summer because i feel like a lot of people would
judge me for my life here at santa cruz. i mean. im still annie. i've just seen
some things and realized a lot of things too. its crazy. i kind of just want to
stay up in santa cruz for the summer but i know my mom wouldnt like that
very much.
i am me. i am the most meest that im going to be.
dont judge me, world. please dont.

| MONDAY DECEMBER 22, 2008
So today, I had a flight out of Oakland Airport at 10 AM.
I missed it.
So I left on the next flight at 11. I arrived at 12 PM at LAX.
My luggage did not arrive.
So they said wait for the next flight from Oakland, it is landing shortly and on time.
My baggage was not there.
So they said, "there is another flight from Oakland coming in at 1:15. There is a possibility that your bag could be there."
The flight came in at around 1:30.
They lied.
My luggage was not there.
So I went in line at the baggage area to tell them that my bag never arrived.
All of the other people that were in line also lost their bags.
They were from Oakland as well.
They said they would call once they got a hold of my bag and deliver it to me today.
They called at 6 saying they had my bag and that it would be delivered to my house
in about 5-6 hours.
My bag arrived at 12:30 AM - TUESDAY DECEMBER 23, 2008.
Southwest Airlines lied to me.
The moral of the story: Southwest Airlines sucks.

| this weekend the slugs drove on down to san diego for a rugby tournament. quite the intense weekend if i do say so myself....my van had nowhere to sleep..
FRIDAY NIGHT
we had no place to stay because we didnt want to pay extra for the motel in chula vista so we decieded to sleep in allison's van on UCSD's campus..but we didnt know where the warren field was so i called grace mak to ask and she so graciously opened up her lounge to us! so basically there were 6 tired, yet possibly loud rugby girls living in the lounge of UCSD students who probably didn't want us there..
allison and i were supposed to share my pillow but she was tired and knocked out first while i went with gmak to go visit stacey lee, my favoritest person in the wooorld! i came back at like 3 and then finally decided to sleep only to realize that allison had stolen my whole pillow so i had to sleep by myself secluded in some corner...
SATURDAY NIGHT
We spent the night in the parking lot of warren field inside the odyssey... we put down the back row and had allison, leah, and me sleep there while jasmin and sarah-jean slept in the middle row.
most painful and cold night ever! but good experience i guess..sweet dreams of the pitch!

| this weekend was probably one of the best and most tiring weekends ever! recap...
FRIDAY
i ran out of my core class 10 minutes early...and this annoying dude who always talks and never shuts up and thinks he knows everything gave me the dirtiest look. i dont know why. why does he care so much about me leaving lol. any hoots. i went back to my dorm and changed real quick and then went down to the lounge to meet up with everyone and we went SEA KAYAKING!! oh my gosh! how fun! haha. we went out into the water and saw some real cute otters eating and a whole bunch of pelicans and weird black birds that dove. and we also so dolphins! the guide man took us under the wharf which was pretty tight. we saw a whole bunch of star fish and lazy sea lions who just slept and yelled all day.. on the way back it got pretty chilly but the water looked tiiight! and we got real close to 2 dolphins.
then when we got back, allison, elizabeth, and i ran up to our rooms and ran back down to get to allisons car to pick up tracy and then we rushed off towards oakland! we were all craving in-n-out since we're so cal babes (except allison who's from oakland) and we scarfed down our food. oh gosh how delicious it was. i mean in-n-out is freaking good...but it is SO much better when the closest one is like 40 minutes away and for the past month or so you have been eating the same damn dining hall food haha!
after we got to oakland we met up with lynn and michelle (two girls who graduated from SC and playd rugby and they are totally awesome) and they wanted to go to a party so allison was going to take them but we ended up driving to berkeley and watching the beautiful city lights from the FIN WHALE over at some science thingie at berkeley...
HOME.
SATURDAY
elizabeth allison and i all slept on her queen sized bed and i didnt call it fast enough so i ended up sleeping in the middle and everytime they both turned around they would smack me...and we had apollo, allisons dog sleeping on the bed with us too...what a cramped bed.
we got up and then allisons pops made us some scrumptious breakfast and then it was off to TREASURE ISLAND! yarrgg! oh my gosh! i cant believe how COLD it is in oakland/treasure island! i almost froze my ass off! goodness! we went there for the "hit like a bear" clinic that the gals of the berkeley all blues held. it was pretty fun!
since keri was pretty much set on me being scrum half, i learned this one pass about 2 weeks back and then we worked on that again at the clinic. we just worked on pretty much all the basic things of rugby like passing and tackling and what not...and then at the very end of the clinic we played a scrimmage. i thought i was going to die. i have never been so lost and confused in my life.
i was put onto blue team as the freaking scrum half and i had no idea what to do. the clinic never told how a game really works, and chief never really told us antying about actual rugby games yet either..so i basically just got the ball out of the srum and then tossed it to whoever and since the fowards who were on my team kept getting in between me and the other backs....everything was hectic! ha!
allison and i were quite terrified i must say, but a good experience i guess. haha. we are sore as hellll now! yipes! afterwards we went over to allison's family friend's new house which was totally tight! they have a real nice house with 3 floors of coolness and two kitty cats. thunder and lightning. haha. we went over to their community jacuzzi which was pretty tight cause it was freezing cold that night. allison and i jumped into the pool first and then ran on over to the jacuzzi.
HOME.
SUNDAY
we woke up and ate hello kitty waffles that allison made haha. and then we drove home and stopped by costco to eat hotdogs and drink a smoothie...because costco has great ones haha. and then allison realized that she couldnt find her keys and ID so we were like "we have to go back to oakland" and we were already back in SC haha! so after we dropped off elizabeth so she could write her essay and study, allison and i took off for oakland once again......
i cant believe we made to oakland in ONE HOUR. how crazy is that?! ahaha! allison and i tore her house and car apart looking for her keys but we just couldnt find them...so allison showed me all of her cool cars that her pops has. he has a whole bunch of bugs from like '57 i think and another form the 60s? i dunno...he just had such cool cars. he had this tight pickup VW from back in the day and a porsche from long ago too. hhah...maaan.
we went to go get some pics from the sea kayaking developed and we went to go eat and meet up with allison's friend andrew and his cutie lil bro pierre haha. they are so cuuute! toooo cute! haha! so we basically hung out with them forever and then we realized that we still had to get home and then we realized that the buses dont run on sundays or something and that we would have to park waaay off campus and then walk alllll they way back to stevenson haha. but we ended up just parking in front of stevenson for the night and then we're just going to move it at the crack of dawn tomorrow haha...
maaan. im sooo tired!
